Chapter Seventeen
It was the final day of weddings at Coastal Vows before Juliette and Brock took center stage the following weekend. Gigi had already delivered the flowers and returned to the shop, while Adrienne stayed behind as the photographer for another beachside wedding.
Her entire morning was spent capturing pivotal moments for the couple who were so in love, it made her stomach tear into knots. But she powered through it. She encapsulated the perfect memories, and looks of pure adoration shared only between a bride and groom. The day had its moments of uncertainty and humor, for which Adrienne was extremely grateful. Like when the maid of honor had the bright idea to have the entire wedding party yell their favorite swear word during the official photos.
Those will turn out amazing, Adrienne thought with a smile. Then there was the flower girl who hated having to throw petals, and kicked the best man in the shin when he tried to soothe her.
Good times.
Vivianne stopped by right before the end of the day to snap a few pictures of Gigiâs flowers for the shopâs social media account, then opted to linger, and keep Adrienne company while she finished up for the day. Viv was full of energy, gushing over the clothing she was receiving from Charity Rhodes, and raving about the quality and design.
âSeriously, Adri.â Viv linked her arm through her sisterâs as they headed to their cars. âI just got the sexiest pair of jeans. Theyâre studded with rhinestones down the side of the hem, and I swear itâs like theyâve been dipped in diamond dust. Theyâre absolutely gorgeous.â
âThey sound like it.â Adrienne removed the lens from her Canon and carefully packaged her camera away in its case. âWhat else did you get?â
She wasnât too interested in fashion, she never had been, but she loved listening to her sister talk about something with passion. Vivianne was the same whenever Adrienne discussed photography. She was never too invested, but Adrienneâs excitement held her attention.
âOh!â Vivianne squealed. âCharity sent me this gorgeous nude blouse. Itâs lace, super fine and detailed, with satin piping. Most of the bodice is sheer but with the right braâ¦itâll be killer.â
Now that, Adrienne had to admit, sounded show-stopping. She loved a good blouse.
âYou know, Iâm thinking I might wear the jeans tonight with some black boots when I go out with Anders. Maybe with a tee shirt to dress them down, give off some casual sexy vibes.â Vivianne leaned back against the door of her red SUV and tapped her finger against her chin. Her smile was broad and full of mischief. âBet Iâll finally get lucky this time.â
Adrienneâs hands slicked with sweat. The knots which had been anxiously wound inside her stomach all day suddenly tightened, causing her breath to catch. The thought of Vivianne and Anders doingâ¦havingâ¦it was as though sheâd been dunked beneath the surface of a frozen lake. Her lungs burned. She couldnât feel her legs or arms. Adrienne refused to look at her twin.
